10″ G-Tab Quantum Android 4.2 HD+ IPS Quad Core Tablet PC Review

One of the interesting affordable tablets in the market today is the 10″ G-Tab Quantum Android 4.2 HD+ IPS Quad Core Tablet PC by Matricom. An interesting feature of this tablet would be the latest 2014 strong and intense A31 Allwinner Quad Core CPU with a top frequency of 1.5GHz x 4 cores that would put the Android performance up on the next level, marking quite a noticeable difference when it comes to gaming and multimedia usage. Booting in seconds is one of the things that is notable in this tab. It also has power saving features which enables you to use the device for longer time with its longer battery life and not sacrificing performance.

What are the features of this tab and is it worth buying?

The design of this tab quite resembles that of an iPad a little bit, considering the edges and how it looks from a far. It looks simple and elegant and has an aluminum case built, so it feels solid. All ports of the tablet are located in one area of the tab and they are also protected with the very useful dust shield. The speaker is located at the back, not too exciting since it can be a problem when listening to music while putting the tablet flat on bed.

The tablet’s HD+ High Resolution IPS multi-touch 10.1″ display technology is quite impressive. The images are crisp, clean and sharp with its 1280×800 High Definition that is clearly visible from any angle. This is actually quite impressive for something of this price range. Matricom’s Quantum Android has advanced screen technology that gives the rich and beautifully vivid deep colors and impressively fast motion videos come to life, thanks to its new UltraScan IPS high-speed switching display technology.

Not quite certain if this tablet is made for gaming enthusiasts but the powerful A31 Quad Core CPU is paired with the Mali-400 GPU which really gives a smooth yet radical 3D gaming that puts your adventures in the game visually to life.

PROS

  • Highly responsive and accurate touch sensor
  • Powerful A31 Quad Core 1.5GHz CPU
  • Updated with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean w/Google Play Store
  • 8GB total integrated storage (expandable to 32GB with MicroSD card!)
  • USB Extendable (Flash Drives/HDD/External Keyboard/3G)
  • Views and plays all standard video, audio, and picture formats!
  • Ports: 1 x MicroUSB, 1 x TF Card Slot, 1 x Mini HDMI, 1 x Earphone, 1 x Charge
  • Great screen resolution
  • The price is un-arguable.

CONS

  • The location of the speaker makes its audio output seemed weak especially when there are people around, the sounds from the tablet can barely be heard (not a problem though if you are a frequent user of headphones)
  • The cameras aren’t too exciting but it’s good for basic video chatting and pictures.
  • The cover for the USB connection is a bit flimsy so has to take extra careful with it.

For an affordable purchase, considering the features it has and the fast performance, the money will be worth it. If you are into gaming, this tablet would really impress you although it is not bad for day to day uses as well. Pictures aren’t too good but it seems sufficient for its price range.

Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB Tablet Review

Microsoft have recently released Windows 8.1 and thus presenting the Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB Tablet. This tab runs in full Windows 8.1 with an Intel Atom Quad Core processor. In light of a smooth versatile experience (same with a PC), this baby gives the complete performance of Windows 8.1 right in the palm of your hands and brings it everywhere you go. Read more on this Dell Venue 8 Pro 32 GB Tablet Review for more details.

Designed to give a desktop-like performance, the the Dell Venue 8 helps you complete your office tasks, encourage your creative nature and build ideas rather quickly with its super fast Intel Atom™ processor Z3740 (up to 1.8GHz Quad-Core). The processor of this tab actually gives its edge over the Acer W3 and the early Windows 8 tablets since these two run on Dual Core.

What are the features of the Dell Venue Tablet?

Let’s start with the design. It’s not too thin, but it’s relatively easy to grab on one hand. It’s not too heavy as well (weighs 1.48 lbs) but it feels tough and solid with a really nice rubberized rear cover which makes it very easy to grab and it’s less slippery.

The display is quite remarkable, it has great view in different angles although you might have to make a few adjustments manually. To be able to get superb display quality, disable the auto-brightness settings as the display might seem to be a bit dimmed. Great colorful 8 inch display with  with HD (WXGA 1280 x 800) resolution.

It has a lone speaker that is pretty decent for the uses of the Venue 8. This device also comes with a digitizer pen (not a Wacom) but it has to be ordered separately. It’s also good to note that it has microSD expansion for extra storage and 2 GB of RAM.

PROS

  • 8” IPS HD touch display (1280×800)
  • Office Home and Student 2013 Tablet Edition included
  • 18WHr battery (would last for about for 10 hours)
  • 5 MP rear camera
  • Intel Atom Quad-Core processor (Z3740D); 2MB cache, up to 1.8 GHz
  • Runs on Windows 8.1

CONS

  • Windows key is located at the top of the device (not a big issue but it’s just a little odd that it’s not convenient to hit it from the front of the device)
  • Cameras are just “ok” – means not too sharp, colors of the pictures are a bit muddy looking and flat.

In conclusion, the features of this device is pretty much just sufficient for its price. It’s actually pretty good for its value. Other uses of this tablet is just “ok” and will do for office works and other projects. Honestly not so much thrilled with its audio capabilities (has little distortions on loud volume) as well as the camera. The interface is quite fast though – noting that it is run with Intel Atom Quad Core, so that makes a difference among all the other tablets of this class.

Certified Apple Refurbished iPad MC707LL/A – 3rd Generation Review

This post I have today shall be a short one. Perhaps I do not need to elaborate further on the feature of this device but I have to say, even with a certified device Apple is still the beast when it comes to tablets. Read more information on this Certified Apple Refurbished iPad MC707LL/A – 3rd Generation Review. I have never have bought a refurbished item ever but this one had totally made an impression!

Click here for the price and other customer reviews.

Why buy a Refurbished iPad?

For a 64GB iPad that’s a Third Generation tablet, this is totally a great deal! You get everything good as new too. All the other accessories are there, and it is also packed like new. The Retina Display (9.7 Retina Display) of Apple technology is guaranteed to wow you with great graphics (2048 x 1536 Resolution).

So glad to be able to get this device for such a much lower price and yet still able to enjoy the Dual-Core A5X Chip with Quad-Core Graphics. Updated to iOS7 too and it works even much better!

For battery life, it lasts around 10 Hours but lesser when you use more often. This could be the only downfall on this device. Performance wise, it is superb as when you have bought the same original device. A refurbished iPad isn’t bad at all! I highly recommend this for savings!

It’s also the world’s thinnest 10.1″ tablet, with a highly robust dust and water resistant design that lets you enjoy it nearly at anyplace at any time.

What are this tablet’s Features?

Sony Xperia Z SGP311U1/B 10.1-Inch 16GB Tablet is by far the absolute most slender 10.1″ tablet. It measures just .27″ thin and weighing in at a mere 16.9 ounces. What’s more interesting is that it is far from being fragile – it has a dense and compact, sturdy body frames a super strong tempered glass display that creates a resilient form factor quite clever  of defending itself from the daily drudgery.

A single stare is all it takes to be smitten with all 10.1 inches of the Full HD Reality Display powered by Mobile BRAVIA®Engine 2. With the upraised ante on color reproduction, the sharply designed Xperia Tablet Z offers the most extensive color spectrum of any tablet anywhere with vivid, life-like details that practically gets off the screen.

To surprise you even more, forget living in constant fear of spills, splashes or even total submersion. Xperia Tablet Z’s revolutionary water resistant design holds out in the wettest of conditions, even complete submersion in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes at a time. So catch up on your reading during a leisurely soak in the tub, swipe through a recipe with wet fingers or surf the web by the pool worry free.

PROS

  • Slim, lightweight design –  seriously, this tablet is amazingly light and well balanced
  • Power packed processor –  it shows in smooth and responsive controls, whether surfing the web, running apps, or playing graphic-intensive games.
  • Water and dust resistant – you can look up recipes by the kitchen sink without worrying about your tablet getting wet
  •  Nice, crisp, well saturated photos and video when used outdoors.
  • Long battery life – when the screen is off, your tablet automatically shuts down the battery-draining apps you don’t need, then starts them up again when the screen is back on
  • NFC One-Touch feature lets you wirelessly transfer content to your compatible TV, smartphone or speaker with just a tap.

CONS

  • Camera results are a a little bit disappointing when used indoors – there is a noticeable graininess, even in moderately well lit indoor areas
  • No Adobe flash
  • Sound is overly loud, overall sound feels hollow, no matter how you adjust it. (Not nearly as great as the Kindle Fire HD’s powerful speakers)

Sony delivered this tablet in a big way, and it appears that they’ve learned from their mistakes in previous, rather anemic tablet offerings. The combination of a great high resolution screen, decent sound, expandable storage, ease of extended use, battery life, raw horsepower… plus features like universal remote control and waterproof… really do make the one of those in the edge among the tablets.

While there is a slightly a big gap amidst the screen finishes and the edge of the tablet, the total design of the Slate is pretty decent. It features a nice stainless steel frame, has a metallic grey looking finish to the back (it’s also available in red), that results in an aesthetically impressive tablet.

What are the the features of this tablet?

One of the tablet’s unique features is the integrated Beats Audio that comes assembled in with it. The background noise is excellent and really has clarity. Thanks to built-in Beats Audio™, the HP Slate 2800 7-Inch 8 GB Tablet  is designed for the best sounding, richest audio available on a tablet – this feature makes the tablet small in size but big in sound.

What about the battery? Well this tablet has the power to keep you going! Your batteries will be able to keep up with you. With the HP Slate, you can run errands, enjoy music and movies, and get things done without running on empty. The HP Slate 2800 7-Inch 8 GB Tablet can run apps, 3-D games, and more with fast response times and sharp video. It’s low-energy, high-performance processor works hard without draining your battery.

PROS

  • A great price point.
  • Works great for streaming movies/tv, etc. – with sound quality that is incredible with the built-in Beats Audio™.
  • The display is bright, the sound is amazing for such a small package, and the touch screen works great.
  • Quick and easy in setting it up.
  • The expandability with the memory card made it possible to hold more music as well as books.
  • It’s light weight, easy to grip so it never feels like it may slip out of your hand.
  • Taking pictures is not as cumbersome as I anticipated it might be.

CONS

  • Not all applications function as expected, but hoping this gets better with additional updates.
  • It has no GPS.

Overall, the HP Slate 2800 7-Inch 8 GB Tablet  does just adequate to differentiate itself from the competition because of the cameras and Beats Audio support. It has a pretty decent price for its features, but in comparison to most tablets out there, it isn’t a hugely impressive tablet. While it’s good enough for very basic things that you needed to do – like using email and browsing the web, it’s not the tablet you want if you want to watch video (get a better screen).
