Canon 2805B002 Speedlite 430EX II Flash Review

Once again, Canon did it! Canon Speedlite 430EX II just like other flash models they have, allows users to control flash functions and input settings using the camera’s LCD monitorii, and also features a quick-lock attachment system and a metal mounting foot for a much better contact dependability and durability. So let’s go ahead with this Canon 2805B002 Speedlite 430EX II Flash Review.

Taking you to a new level of flexibility and competence to flash photography, the Speedlite 430EX II has a powerful flash (guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100) with a quick recycling time in a dense, tough body. A one-touch quick-lock mechanism makes it simple to attach or detach the 430EX II from the camera and a metal foot has been supplemented for strength and sturdiness.

Maximum flash controls can now be set through the camera’s LCD screen on compatible EOS Digital SLR cameras. The Speedlite 430EX II is also more silent (quieter than ever), recycle time is 20% faster (as compared to the 430EX) and since it is compatible with Canon’s wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable “slave unit”.

What makes this Canon Speedlight Flash stand out?

This superb SLR accessory has the most excellent build quality – talk about including a metal foot for added strength. Its full flash control possible on camera menu is no doubt one of the things that puts this flash forward in better features, with compatible EOS Digital SLR cameras.

Unlike the other flash available now in the market that are a bit loud, the Canon 2805B002 Speedlite 430EX II Flash has a virtually silent flash recycle. Pretty impressive!

The flash head can be moved up from 0 – 90° (5 settings), left from 0 – 180° (7 settings) and right from 0 – 90° (4 settings) and zoom flash head covers range of 24-105mm; maximum guide number 141 ft./43m at ISO 100.

PROS

  • Great exposure performance
  • Fast recycling time
  • Superior build quality
  • Quiet
  • Accurate exposure
  • One-touch, quick-lock mechanism for easy attaching/detaching flash from camera

CONS

  • Adjustment buttons are hard for big hand people (buttons are somewhat recessed too deep.)
  • One feature they should have added, given its price tag, is a battery level indicator.
