While there is a slightly a big gap amidst the screen finishes and the edge of the tablet, the total design of the Slate is pretty decent. It features a nice stainless steel frame, has a metallic grey looking finish to the back (it’s also available in red), that results in an aesthetically impressive tablet.

What are the the features of this tablet?

One of the tablet’s unique features is the integrated Beats Audio that comes assembled in with it. The background noise is excellent and really has clarity. Thanks to built-in Beats Audio™, the HP Slate 2800 7-Inch 8 GB Tablet  is designed for the best sounding, richest audio available on a tablet – this feature makes the tablet small in size but big in sound.

What about the battery? Well this tablet has the power to keep you going! Your batteries will be able to keep up with you. With the HP Slate, you can run errands, enjoy music and movies, and get things done without running on empty. The HP Slate 2800 7-Inch 8 GB Tablet can run apps, 3-D games, and more with fast response times and sharp video. It’s low-energy, high-performance processor works hard without draining your battery.

PROS

  • A great price point.
  • Works great for streaming movies/tv, etc. – with sound quality that is incredible with the built-in Beats Audio™.
  • The display is bright, the sound is amazing for such a small package, and the touch screen works great.
  • Quick and easy in setting it up.
  • The expandability with the memory card made it possible to hold more music as well as books.
  • It’s light weight, easy to grip so it never feels like it may slip out of your hand.
  • Taking pictures is not as cumbersome as I anticipated it might be.

CONS

  • Not all applications function as expected, but hoping this gets better with additional updates.
  • It has no GPS.

Overall, the HP Slate 2800 7-Inch 8 GB Tablet  does just adequate to differentiate itself from the competition because of the cameras and Beats Audio support. It has a pretty decent price for its features, but in comparison to most tablets out there, it isn’t a hugely impressive tablet. While it’s good enough for very basic things that you needed to do – like using email and browsing the web, it’s not the tablet you want if you want to watch video (get a better screen).

Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 Pro 128 Gb Tablet Review

There were half-hearted reviews of Microsoft’s new Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet last week, but even so, the company says it has seen strong demand since it went on sale in the United States. The Microsoft says the Surface line is just getting started. Let’s take a closer look of this device in this Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 Pro 128 Gb Tablet Review. Read on.

Click here for product pricing and more user reviews.

Admittedly, the Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 Pro 128 Gb Tablet seemed like it is a  confusing device. Why?  On the one hand its a tablet but on the other hand you get a keyboard for which makes it more like a laptop. So which one is it? And does it work well as both? Let’s find out.

A full Windows 8 Pro device in tablet form has the potential to shake up the mobile computing world, offering genuine computing power in a truly portable package. The Surface Pro doesn’t need to match the iPad or Nexus 10 in terms of thinness and lightness, or even battery life – after all, it offers functionality more akin to that of a laptop than a Windows tablet.

What’s in store for this device?

Lets start with the hardware of the tablet. The tablet it made out of a mix of aluminum and magnesium that Microsoft called VaporMg: the material that holds Surface together. It’s incredibly strong and doesn’t make the tablet too heavy either. It is a few more ounces than the iPad but it does have a bigger screen and it also has a full-sized USB port.

How about the software? Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 Pro 128 Gb Tablet  runs a special version of windows called Windows RT, it is for tablets with lower powered processors. It has all the goodness of Windows 8, you can swipe apps and put them side by side, but you cannot run older desktop apps on it, you have to run apps from the windows store. That means you can’t download programs from the web or even download something like iTunes that isn’t in the Microsoft store. But you do get Microsoft Office for free on any Windows RT tablet.

PROS

  • The tablet is very comfortable to hold but u might not have to hold is as much as other tablets because of its kickstand (incredibly proficient).
  • The material feels smooth and high quality.
  • It can run ALL apps and software (Example: You can get connected to your work VPN, connected to SQL server, and remote desktops, all from a tablet-sized machine).
  • The 10.6 inch display, its really bright and responsive and it works really well although it’s not as crisp as the retina display in the iPad.
  • The touch cover is just 3 mm thin and its still a full keyboard that’s flat – they have insanely strong magnets and you can attach the touch cover which is a cover with a keyboard built in.
  •  FAST, I mean blazing fast. Every time you reboot you will be shocked on how fast it shuts down and comes back up.
  • No fan noise at all, this device is completely silent!

CONS

  • Heavy, gets pretty hot, battery life’s not that great – you may get about 5 hours but seems very dependent on what you are doing.
  • Right now there are a lot of missing apps from the Microsoft store but hopefully they will add more as time goes.

To sum it up, if your goal is to ditch the tablet and laptop, and get one device to really support your needs in everyday tasks, the Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 Pro 128 Gb Tablet delivers all that in a near-perfect way. This device can be the beginning of a a new era in computer technology. The desktop and laptops are going to go away. Because if this is what the future has in store for us, why do we need a desktop any longer? The Microsoft Surface Pro Windows 8 Pro 128 Gb Tablet may have has raised the bar on all future products.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD Review

Most people still thinks Amazon Kindles as the same to those little monochrome holiday companions that are only good for reading ebooks alone. Welcome you to the new generation my friend.  You should know that the Amazon Kindle Fire HD is a completely different thingamabob. The Kindle Fire is not just focused on the very specific job of downloading and reading electronic books, this is an all-purpose tablet that serves as a window onto Amazon’s wider multimedia world – films, music, apps and games are all included in the Kindle Fire HD’s remit.

Amazon’s New Kindle Fire has an advanced 7″ display where the screen is intense, luminously clear and not to mention the graphics that are crisp, smooth and brings your content to life.  High definition touchscreen display gives rich HD video, stunningly vivid photos and crisp, detailed text.

Most tablet displays are made up of two pieces of glass – an LCD on the bottom and a touch sensor on the top, separated by an air gap. With an air gap, light reflects off of every surface as it passes through from the front, creating multiple distracting reflections that reduce display contrast. Kindle Fire HD solves this air gap problem by laminating the touch sensor and the LCD together into a single layer of glass, creating a display that’s easy to view, even in overhead light. More to that, it shows the same deep contrast and rich, detailed color when viewed at any angle.

Innovative features that makes Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD unique:

  • X-Ray for Movies – Explore your favorite characters and actors at a touch. Kindle Fire HD uses the power of IMDb to bring Amazon’s exclusive X-Ray service to movies. How? Simply tap on any scene to instantly see which actors are currently on screen, jump straight to other movies in which they star, and more.
  • Whispersync for Movies – Start streaming a movie on Kindle Fire HD, pause, then resume watching straight from the same scene on your TV. Whispersync remembers your last scene watched across all your apps and devices, this will avoid the frustration of having to find your spot.
  • X-Ray for Books – Tap on any page as you read to access X-Ray, an easy way to uncover more from the books you love. You can instantly find chapters and locations that mention ideas, characters, and important places, as well as background info, biographies, and more from Shelfari and Wikipedia.
  • Whispersync for Books – Kindle Fire HD uses Amazon’s Whispersync technology to automatically sync your library, last page read, bookmarks, notes, and highlights across all your devices. Kindle reading apps are also available for phones, tablets, PCs, and Macs, you can keep the story going wherever you are.
  • Experience Immersion Reading – With Immersion Reading, the Kindle Fire HD can now synchronize Kindle text with companion Audible audiobooks with real-time highlighting to create a more immersive reading experience, as well as deepen learning and comprehension. There are almost 15,000 Kindle books and 15,000 companion Audible audiobooks across a wide array of genres are available.
  • Whispersync for Voice – Now you don’t have to put a good book down, even if you’re cooking, running or commuting. With Whispersync for Voice, you can seamlessly switch between listening to the Audible audiobook and reading the companion Kindle book right where you left off. How? Read more about it here.
  • Whispersync for Games – GameCircle titles with Whispersync automatically store your progress in the cloud, so you’ll never lose an unlocked level or saved game, even if you delete the game from your device.

PROS

  1. Absolutely stunning, and incomparably terrific image quality (like really awesome compared to other Tablets)
  2. Seamless and flawless integration with Amazon’s ecosystem
  3. Perfect for parents ( can create a profile for each of their children and choose what books, apps, games and videos they want to give their kids access to for parental control)
  4. The device feels nice and solid and has rubberized backing is always nice for added grip.
  5. The sound from the speakers is very impressive, which is really better than you would get from more expensive devices, very crisp and clean
  6. Kindle Fire HD has state-of-the-art dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi for over 35% faster speeds – in other words: SUPER FAST WIFI!!!
  7. And MOSTLY, offers a lot for the money; it’s full of ambitious features; it really does provide super-convenient access to a lot of things you can enjoy.

CONS

  1. Does not come with a charger and it takes hours to charge via USB. One good thing though is that if you have an iPad, you can use its USB charging plug and it works great.
  2. Amazon needs more apps, badly. This tablet would be very useful though if all you want is books, video, web browsing, email, and calendar. It does all this perfectly. But more choices would be nice.
  3. Lack of all the Google Play apps available on the Kindle. But you can find out how to add apps that are not available in the Amazon store. It is pretty easy to do and works very well with the apps that have been tried.

Overall,  if you travel a lot, want your amazon content, and do basic email/web/calendar, etc… this device is totally perfect for you. Great job Amazon! Click here to buy.
